Province México Occidental
The second session of the 18th Provincial Chapter in México Occidental took place from July 29 – 30.
During the opening session on Friday, 29 July, Brother Miguel Ángel Santos Villarreal, Provincial, stressed that the chapter is a theological place where the Lord has something to say collectively and individually.
The agenda was then presented, highlighting two main topics to be dealt with during the chapter: the revision of the Norms of the Province and the presentation of the Provincial Strategic Paln for 2016 – 2021, with its three axes: Vocations and Marist Life, Marist Educational Mission and Animation, Management and Government.
Brother Javier López then presented suggestions submitted by some communities for the Chapter to revise.
During the afternoon, the work focused on the strategic objectives and the contributions made in groups and the day ended with a Eucharist celebration during which Brothers Mele, Poncho, Julián, Rubén, Charlie, Junel, Bricely, Ernso, Alexeste and Carlos renewed their religious vows.
During the second day, July 30, Brother Raúl Lara presented the province’s financial situation and mentioned the need for greater sustainability of some works.
General councillor brother Víctor Preciado offered a historical overview on the different chapters that have taken place, highlighting their evolution through dialogue and diversity.
Finally, Brother Miguel Ángel Santos offered a concluding message for the end of the 18th Provincial Chapter reminding of the need for conversion with God as a reference.
