Province of « América Central »

On 14 May, we had the first intercommunity meeting of the year in our mission of El Salvador. The  provincial option for the next three years continues to echo strongly in our ears: « With Mary, as brothers and sisters, we open ways to life in our land ».

From the start, we wanted to emphasize the meeting between brothers. I think that that is the  principal characteristic of the meetings we hold year after year. The affectionate welcome, fraternal atmosphere, the joy and family spirit have allowed a spontaneous exchange with other brothers about the most significative events of the year. During morning prayer, we had the pleasure of receiving the new edition of our Marist Constitutions.

It is the expression of the spirit of our XXI General Chapter: « … It is an opportunity to implement the process of personal and community renewal in our works, which will lead us to be signs of Jesus and his Gospel. »

On the day’s agenda was the principal topic for reflection in the document: « Policies and norms for the integral care and protection of minors », the purpose being to encourage personal and institutional commitment to the defence of children and young people.

At the end of the morning, our Provincial, Brother Hipólito Pérez, shared some interesting items of news; among other things he presented the letters and photos sent by our brothers working at present in another mission outside our Province. We send them our greetings.

The meeting ended with the celebration of the Eucharist; we thanked God for feeling like and loving one another as brothers. Lunch allowed us to share our brotherhood and the resolution to continue strengthening it each day.
