Publishers will raise funds for Marist initiatives
Marists gathered in Argentina to discuss ways that publishing houses can contribute to future joint projects of the Institute on April 28 and 29.
Four Marist brothers and five directors of FTD and Gram Editora publishers met in the headquarters of Gram Editora in Buenos Aires to find ways of raising funds for different projects.
They touched on ways of establishing contributions by the two publishers as well as by Editora Champagnat, Edelvives and Edipucrs.
The projects include a Marist school currently being built in Bangladesh, a literary prize, a joint magazine and future publications of the Institute.
The group also proposed to create a solidarity fund of Marist publishers to contribute to emergencies through the Marist International Solidarity Foundation.
During the meeting, discussion arose on creating a databank of resources compatible for both Edelvives and FTD in order to lower expenses.
The group will meet again next year in Our Lady of the Hermitage in Saint-Chamond, France, from May 9-13.
Participants included Marist brothers João Carlos do Prado (director of the Secretariat of Mission), Miguel Angel Espinosa (Assistant director of the Secretariat of Mission) Julián Sanz (Gram Editora’s managing director) and Agustín Martínez (Gram Editora’s director).
The other five partipants were Alberto Pazos (Gram Editora’s organization and development director), Antonio Luiz Rios da Silva (FTD’s supervisor) Ceciliany Alves (FTD’s editions manager), Lauri Cericato (FTD’s manager) and Jorgelina Bastiani (Gram Editora’s editions and administration supervisor).
