Regional Meeting of the Northwest Sector of MAS

Under the motto, « Know yourself better, better to serve others, » five groups from the secondary schools of the northwest sector of the Mexico Occidental Province gathered in the border city of Mexicali, Baja California, for the regional meeting of the MAS group (Movement of Apostolates at Secondary Level). The meeting was held from November 13 to 16, 2008, with about 170 people in attendance: young people, group leaders and advisors.

The reason for the gathering was to help the young people get a better sense of themselves as individuals and as children of God, so that, sharing the reality of their lives, they might see it in a new way and, following Marcellin Champagnat?s example, assist the neediest people with whom they come in contact. To such an end, various highly interesting activities were set up. For example there were visits to orphanages, relief centers, to young peoples? drop-in centers. In addition, several conference and workshops were offered along with a special theatrical production on the lives of some saints.

We are grateful to the Valle de Mexicali Secondary School for the preparations they made for us, and to the leaders who organized the meeting, especially to chief organizer Caludia Quijano and her team.
