Religious Sciences and the subject of Religion at Marists Europe

Formation in Religious Sciences and in the coordination of religious education were at the center of two activities in the Marist Region of Europe.

Formation in Religious Studies

On November 11 and 12, the second face-to-face moment of formation in Religious Sciences took place in Xaudaró (Madrid), in which a total of 43 teachers, 24 of them belonging to Marists, participated. On this occasion, they worked on subjects such as History of Philosophy I, Introduction to Sacred Scripture, Fundamental Morals, Phenomenology and Philosophy of Religions.

This initiative is a very significant way of concretizing what was requested by the National Congress of Catholic Schools this November 2024: “TO BE, TO EDUCATE…. WITH ITS OWN NAME”.

Formation Coordination of Evangelical Religious Education (ERE)

A total of nineteen teachers were trained in a first week with regard to the coordination of the religious education, a subject which, for us Marists, is an identifying one. It is a formation that seeks to cover the following four objectives, according to the General Design of Marist Formation:

  • To form people capable of energizing and leading ERE teams in our schools.
  • To train agents to lead innovation in ERE in our educational works.
  • To provide participants with methodological, pedagogical and theological tools so that they can be promoters of ERE in their centers.
  • Contextualize the ERE in the collegial and pastoral framework.

To this end, during this first week, they have worked on contents such as the curricular design of ERE today, how to manage teams focused on this subject, music and ERE, pastoral innovation, etc.

All this took place, according to the participants, in a Marist atmosphere of meeting, study and sharing that made possible an authentic Marist family experience, as our founder liked.
