South America Region

Joined by the Econome General, Brother Libardo Garzón, representatives of the Provincial Economes of the South America Region—Brasil Centro-Norte, Brasil Centro-Sul, Brasil Sul-Amazônia, Santa María de los Andes and Cruz del Sur—met October 15-17 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

With the goals of evaluating present initiatives and actions of their administrations, analyzing budgets and negotiating new joint initiatives, the representatives of each of the Economes met at Villa Marista and visited Our Lady of Luján in her Basilica, officially placing the meeting under her protection.

The participating representatives were: Br. José Augusto Júnior and Mauri Alves Coelho (Brasil Centro-Norte), Br. Lino Alfonso Jungbluth and Rosậngela de Almeida Specht (Brasil Centro-Sul), Luis Antônio Oliveira da Cruz, Milton Fernando da Silva de Oliveira and Br. Lauro Hochscheidt (Brasil Sul-Amazônia), Br. Pedro Herreros and Raquel Monje (Santa María de los Andes), Br. Victorino Diez Maeso, Marcelo Armendáriz and Alejandro Stella (Cruz del Sur), and the regional secretary, Br. Alberto Aparicio.

In a warm and fraternal atmosphere, the participants exchanged suggestions for a regional outlook, reflected on the priority of the evangelical use of goods and envisaged new horizons of cooperation.

At the end of the assembly, they placed the fruits of the three days, their desires and projects, at the feet of the Virgin of Luján in a shared Eucharist, so that our Good Mother might make them prosper.
