Student and teacher: both protagonists
The Director General of Edelvives Publishing Group, Javier Cendoya, and the President of Microsoft Spain, María Garaña, have signed a collaboration agreement to offer the best innovation solutions for the education sector.
The main goal of this collaboration is the development of advanced educational environments and specialized training programs on information technology by adopting the latest innovations regarding contents, educational services, software and hardware.
Educational contents structured in a traditional way are undergoing a deep transformation with the arrival of new formats, innovative methodologies and solutions based on the storage and download of content hosted on the Internet – the cloud (cloud computing) – thanks to which this agreement will offer new value-added services to the educational community.
Edelvives and Microsoft will jointly address proposals which include the students as protagonists of their own learning process, and the teachers as fundamental drivers of methodological change. To this end, they will develop:
- Teacher-training courses through ‘Windows in the Classroom’: seminars and practical workshops showing the possibilities of the company’s technology applied to the classroom, associated with the innovative contents of Edelvives, and how to enhance collaborative work by taking advantage of the free tools Microsoft is putting at their disposal.
- Development of technological solutions and Windows 8 apps to optimize the educational contents and their use in the teaching environment.
- The presence and active participation in conferences and seminars aimed at teachers, through lectures, courses and laboratories.
In addition, both companies established – at their headquarters of Madrid and Zaragoza – models of “Classrooms of the Future”, in which teachers, students and experts in educational innovation will have access to the latest computer tools and will be able to carry out pilot experiences and proofs of concept regarding the application of information technologies to the educational process.
“For 125 years, Edelvives has accompanied teachers in their daily task, and committed to offering quality contents adapted to the times, and that is where our collaboration with Microsoft was essential, in order to endow the most innovative contents with today’s most advanced technology”, stated Julián Sanz, Director General of the Edelvives Publishing Group.
“Promoting quality education, in which the new technologies are present, is one of Microsoft’s main objectives, which is why this agreement with the Edelvives Publishing Group represents a major step to offer the best innovation solutions for the education sector”, said María Garaña, President of Microsoft Spain.
