Greetings from Alicante. Today I was able to visit the mother and sister of Br. Luis Carlos Gutiérrez and we were able to share a lot of time about this sad situation.
Brother Aureliano, Provincial of Mediterránea, has been supporting us for the last two days, accompanying the family and organizing various things. I thank him very much.
The funeral Eucharist of Br. Luis Carlos will be this Wednesday, January 8, at 12:30 in the Parish of “Nuestra Señora del Pilar”, in Los Montesinos (Alicante, Spain). Afterwards, the cremation will take place.
In the first days of February, we will hold a celebration of thanksgiving for the life and mission of Brother Luis Carlos at the General House, where his ashes will be kept for a few days.
And later, his ashes will be sent to his Province, Central America, to remain in the Chapel of Fidelity in the Provincial House in Guatemala.
I am grateful for the messages that you and so many other Marists of Champagnat have sent to me personally and to the Brothers of the community of the General Council.
We remain united in prayer.
Fraternally,
Br. Ernesto Sánchez Barba, Superior General, and the General Council community.
