The Lycée Saint Pierre Chanel celebrated 35 years of existence in Madagascar

The Saint Pierre Chanel high school in Ihosy (Madagascar) celebrated its 35th anniversary during the 2020-2021 school year. The theme that animated the course of the year was “Marist education, for a new life”. The educational center belongs to the diocese of Ihosy and is administered by the Marist Brothers since its creation in 1986.

The celebrations of the anniversary of the Catholic and Marist school had among its objectives:

• Promote pastoral animation (emphasize the importance of education and spiritual life),

• Strengthen unity within the educational community (Parents and Educators) and among students,

• Raise funds to improve the educational infrastructure (it is planned to build a 700M perimeter wall).

Despite the difficulties, especially due to the health crisis, the celebration of the Marist school has been carried out without difficulties and the objectives set have been achieved largely.

The school continues with its educational activities, and looking forward to the next 35 years, the brothers and lay Marists work together ceaselessly to give the best of themselves and strive so “Marist Education to generate a New Life” in the Region of Madagascar.

Le Lycée Privé Saint Pierre Chanel

Saint Pierre Chanel private school was founded in 1986. The establishment offers a comprehensive and quality education to its students. On the other hand, it lends its facilities (rooms) for catechism and meetings of youth movements; and sports fields are available to the city’s youth on weekends.

In its beginnings, the campus had only the secondary level, made up of 145 students. From the beginning, the high school has been mixed, and has welcomed boys and girls. It started in 1986 with the opening of the 6th grade class and in 1993, six years later, Saint Pierre Chanel had its first high school promotion.

Currently the population of the school is composed of 1150 students and 48 teachers and collaborators. It is worth mentioning that every year « Le Lycée » obtains good results in different official exams.

Likewise, several alumni hold key positions in different sectors, nationally and also abroad. Many of them are honest leaders, good Christians with a sense of responsibility and who fight for justice.
