The motto of the Marist Provinces of the Europe Region for 2023-24

“You are at home” is the motto that the five Marist Provinces of the Europe Region (Compostela, West Central Europe, Iberica, L’Hermitage and Mediterranea) have chosen for the academic year 2023-2024. The academic proposal is in line with the circular letter “Homes of Light” of Brother Ernesto Sanchez Barba, Superior General, which invites us to build “homes of light where we care for the life of each one of those who live in them”

You are at home is a motto inspired by “how Jesus welcomes and accompanies even the most socially disadvantaged, and is an example of an attentive and inclusive approach to the person”. An experience to which we have been called in our last Marist writings, to be ‘homes of light’ and beacons of hope.  The proposal is to be a house where everyone fits, and where everyone can feel at home: cared for, welcomed, taken into account, celebrated for their differences… And not only, in each school or local reality, but this is a house that is a great Global Family”. Read the Motivation of the 2013-2024 slogan

The motto chosen by the Marist Provinces of Europe is in line with the XXII General Chapter which asks Marists to walk as a Global Family and “develop initiatives for the empowerment of children and young people in all mission realities”. And it also coincides with the Global Educational Pact, which the Marists promote: “to care for each member of one’s own institution/organization”. Likewise, the “You are at home” proposal is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) of the United Nations, which calls to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”, which the Marists promote in all places where they are present.
