The Province of Brasil Sul-Amazônia brings together young people in harmony with the common home

More than eight hundred participants of the Marist Youth Ministry (MYM) of the Province of Brasil Sul-Amazônia took part in the Marist Youth Meeting on 2 October. The event, which took place both virtually and in person, was transmitted through the social networks of the Colégio Marista Assunção, Porto Alegre. The young people participated physically in different cities of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilia and Mato Grosso.

With the theme “Reconnect – in tune with the common home”, the event promoted reflections on what is necessary for the human being and for the world, and how young people can commit themselves to the integral care of life and the environment.

Br. Deivis Fischer, provincial-elect for the next triennium (2022-2024), emphasised the significance of this day for the history of Marist Youth Ministry and said: “let us remember this historic moment and the contacts that are being created on the way to the Civilisation of Love”.

“We are here for the people, and it is from them that the strength and unity we need to change the world comes. We are here for the young people who mean life and who are already building change in the present. It is time to be Marist Youth”, affirmed the assistant director of the Colégio Marista Assunção, Manoela Saldanha, during her participation.

As a concrete gesture marking the realisation of the 2021 meeting, the Colégio Marista Assunção planted a tree. All the Marist Units were also invited to make symbolic gestures in their areas of action.

The event concluded with the announcement that Colégio Marista Maria Imaculada, in Canela (RS), will be the provincial host of the Marist Youth Meeting 2022. More information on this link
