The Superior General launches the Circular Convoking the XXIII General Chapter
Brother Ernesto Sánchez B., Superior General, has sent to the Provinces and Districts the Circular Convoking the 23rd General Chapter, which will begin on September 8, 2025, in Manila, Philippines. With the launching of the Circular, the pre-chapter process begins (Circular PDF: English | Español | Français | Português).
“The Chapter Preparatory Commission has proposed the theme L’HERMITAGE 200 years Home for all, river of Life, featuring the logo of the open window from St. Marcellin’s room, symbolizing a warm welcome to the Spirit, much like Mary did… It is an appropriate occasion to imagine building a “New Hermitage” in our day, making the Institute into a great global family which welcomes all in a fraternal and just way,” said Br. Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General, in a video message, on the occasion of the sending out the Circular of Convocation of the Chapter.
In the Circular, the Superior General reminds the Marists that the General Chapter will begin on the day we celebrate the birth of Mary, our Good Mother, on September 8. And he points out that in 2025, “we will be celebrating the Bicentenary of the inauguration of the house of N.D. de l’Hermitage, built through the efforts of Champagnat and the first Brothers.”
“We are invited to dream the future with a positive outlook and to act with generosity to continue to keep the Marist charism alive… Let us continue to sow the seeds, caring for the buds of Marist life that emerge and leaving the harvest with total confidence in the hands of God and Mary. This is their work, as St. Marcellin so often reminded us,” said Br. Ernesto Sánchez in his video message.
