To the Victims of Hurricanes and Earthquakes in The Americas
We can do very little alone; united can we do much (Hellen Keller)
We, the participants of the XXII General Chapter of the Marist Brothers, gathered in the city of Rionegro – Colombia, we join the pain and sadness that at this moment suffer some people of the Americas because of the devastating natural phenomena that have struck this part of the planet in recent weeks. The catastrophic effects of the passage of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria in the Antilles, Puerto Rico, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and the United States; such as the unfortunate effects of the two earthquakes suffered in Mexico on the 7th and 19th September.
We are united in a communion of prayer and solidarity with the people who suffer and are victims of these tragedies. In a special way, we express our solidarity with the Marist family, Brothers, Laity, Youth, children and families who suffer from these phenomena. Count on our prayer, our heart of solidarity and our hands ready to support and collaborate.
May the Good and Tender Mother of Guadalupe, Patroness of Latin America, bless and strengthen you and, in turn, encourage and enliven our hearts to hurry out in favor of those who require our help.
