Towards a renewal of our communities
On Saturday, May 4th, the Brothers Today European Commission met in Barcelona, coordinated by Br. Antonio Leal (Compostela) and a brother representing each of the provinces: Juan Carlos Fuerte (Mediterranea), Carlos Garcia (Ibérica), Maurice Taildeman (Central-Eastern Europe), Jean-Pierre Destombes (Hermitage). Br. César Rojas, director of the Brothers Today Secretariat also participated in the meeting, as well as Antonio Aragon, who facilitated the translation.
It was a good opportunity for Br. César to outline the lines of action of the Brothers Today Secretariat and their impact on our journey as a commission. We have also had the opportunity to discuss the new direction and meaning that the commission has acquired, the richness of sharing the various initiatives that are being carried out in the provinces and generating some proposals involving a significant number of brothers.
We feel that this Commission provides a good chance to deepen the reflection on the meaning of what it is to be a brother today in Europe, and to start taking steps in order for the renewal to which we all are called to translate into a new community life, welcoming the calls made by the XXI General Chapter.
We hope, for the new course, to develop some new activities, which will be promptly communicated to the brothers and communities.
