Two close Institutes meet to discuss common objectives

The Marist brothers received what could be considered as its closest Institute of Brothers in its general house in Rome to discuss common issues and projects.

The general councils of the Marist brothers and the Brothers of the Christian Schools reflected on ways the two Institutes can work together on June 15.

They discussed how to collaborate on formation, mission, community life and vocations as well as a joint project in the Middle East, which is expected to be launched after the summer.

The ‘Fratelli Project’ aims at getting the refugee children and young people off the streets in Lebanon through education.

During the encounter, the De La Salle Brothers shared their experience on their review of the Constitutions and the Vatican’s approval, as well as their preparations for the celebration of the death of their founder, St Jean Baptiste, in 2019 ( + 07.04.1719).

The Marist brothers, in turn, addressed their preparations for the bicentenary of the finding of the Institute in 2017 and a project known as ‘New Models of Animation, Government and Management.’
