VII Provincial Chapter of Santa María de los Andes
The Province of Santa María de los Andes is holding its VII Provincial Chapter from 11 July to 15 August. During the Chapter, Brother Pablo González Franco has begun his mandate as the new Provincial, and the new Provincial Council will also be elected.
After having been postponed due to the pandemic and the impossibility of being able to meet in person, the first session of the chapter began on 11 July virtually.
On the first day, Br Isidro Azpeleta, of the organising committee, welcomed all those present. From Rome, Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General, addressed a few words to the Capitulants, underlining the importance of this event for the life of the Province and the Institute. The Superior General also extended his best wishes and prayers to Brother Pablo in his new mission and thanked Brother Saturnino Alonso for his term as Provincial for two terms.
During his remarks, Brother Saturnino expressed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his term of office. The letter of appointment of Br. Pablo from the General Council was read out to signal his officially taking office.
The day continued with the presentation of the overall work plan, the agenda for the coming days, words of introduction from the participants and a prayer.
In the course of the first week, reports from the various Provincial ministry areas, the executive of Marist works, the pre-Chapter group conversations, the election of the steering commission and a review of Chapter regulations, among others, were presented. Likewise, the election of the new Provincial Councillors was done.
