What wineskins do we want for the new wine?

The call of the XXI General Chapter; “With Mary, go in haste to a new land” has given birth to many life processes in the various regions of the Institute and has helped us to look at the heart of the Marist Charism, its vitality, internationality and interculturality, the situation of children, adolescents and young people on the 5 continents. This and more offers us new wine. What wineskin will we need for it?

To obtain New Models for Animation, Governance and Management, has been the purpose of the search of the Institute. The Commission in charge of this theme has worked intensely. After the meetings with all the regions, the examination of the results and the proposals for the future with the General Council, at the end of March, what was obtained, was offered to all the administrative units so that each one could share its ideas. These suggestions are being analyzed and incorporated into the Basic Document.

From July 10 to 14, there will be a meeting of the General Council with the Provincials and one more representative from each administrative unit in charge of applying the plan in his own province.

Concentrating on this important encounter, the Team of the Project is meeting with the General Council and the directors of the five Secretariats of the General Administration, to prepare the proposals that they will present to the participants of the Assembly.

Speaking about this project, Br. Emili Turu, Superior general, invites us to reflect:

“The question is: in today’s world, with a reality that is changing so quickly, in which children and young people have new necessities, in which we always feel like an international family, what do we need to change? Is there anything in the way we organize ourselves, in our structures, which needs to be changed? Is there anything in the way we do it that will also need a change?”
