With Mary towards a new beginning
The tenth meeting of the Inter-American Network of the Marist Apostolic Spirituality (RED-EAM), took place in Brasilia from April 8-14, also called the “20th Meeting of Latin America.”
The theme of the encounter was “with Mary towards a new beginning: Fourvière, renewal of the promise.”
Two representatives of the American Province met for seven days in a climate of communion.
“We reflected, dynamised and planned the Marist spirituality of our home provinces,” said the lay participant, Heloisa Almeida, in the province of Brasil Centro-Norte.
Ahead of the bicentennial, the meetings intended to nurture and reflect the experiences of the three icons of the Bicentennial: the Year Montagne, Fourvière and La Valla, according to Brother Horacio Bustos, provincial of the province of Cruz del Sur and member of the Inter-American subcommittee on spirituality. They also intended to listen to the provinces on spirituality plans being developed.
“The path of brothers and lay people who care and cultivate Marist spirituality is important,” said the Br Horacio, responsible for the subcommittee’s activities.
Other responsibles for the subcommittee’s activities include brothers Javier Pérez Paris (Norandina – coordinator of the subcommittee), Antonio Benedito Oliveira (Brasil-Centro-Sul), Rodrigo Cuerta (América Central) and the lay people Christian Boutin (Canadá) and Gustavo Balbinot (Brasil, Rio Grande do Sul).
The meetings of the RED EAM are held annually in rotation of regions, so brothers and lay people meet every year in a different region of the American continent.
A historical itinerary tour was done at the meeting in Brasilia, followed by the RED EAM with presentations by the brothers Rodrigo Cuerta and Mariano Varona.
