Centenaire Australie – Mass for the deceased

11/Jun/2010

My dear Brothers, today we remember all those members of the Order who, in the last hundred years, died in the love of God but who may not yet be free from the effects of sin. Let us now pray for the faithful departed that our hope for them may be fulfilled.

Among the community of the dead, let us remember our founders and pioneer Brothers, the makers of schools and provinces whose hands raised the fabric of our house. Let us remember Br. Ludovic and his companions, let us remember Brs. John, Stephen, Austin, Basil and many others. May they have rest and reward. May we follow in their ways. Lord hear us.

We remember our men of patriarchal age and virtues. Their lives were almost the span and epitome of our History. Their fidelity beats a path into the future. May we keep in our minds and our prayers Brothers like Henry, Eusebius, Avellino and Celian. Lord, hear us.

We remember our old superiors whose province was a continent, their journeying often, in labour and painfulness, in much watching, their daily solicitude for all the brethren: Brs, Felix, Alphonsus, Clement, Andrew, Arcadius and Brendan – may they have rest and reward. Lord, hear us.

We remember Brothers who wore their scholarship humbly, whose learning illumined our congregation: Brs. Borgia, Sebastian, George, Gerard and Frederick. May perpetual light shine upon them. Lord, hear us.

We remember the great recruiters, God's instruments in bringing labourers into the harvest: Brs. Pius, Edmund, Ildephonsus, William. May they rejoice with the other apostles. Lord, hear us.

We recall the names of our Marist martyrs and missionaries: Brs. John William, Augustine, Donatus: Brs. Simeon and Alphonsus. May their lives and their deaths be the fallow for Christian life in the Islands. Lord, hear us.

We recall men, unsparing of self, whose work was their way and is now their memorial: Brs. Flavian, Gonzaga, Michael and Anselm. May they have rest and reward. Lord, hear us.

We recall humble men of simple toil in kitchen and workshop, in field and farm: Brs. Sylvester and Septimus, Albert and Kilian, Patrick and Finbar. May they have peace and joy. Lord, hear us.

We recall our Brothers who found and shared joy in their vocation, who enriched us with the gift of gaiety and laughter: Brs. Paulinus, Guibertus, Norbert, Hyacinth, Daniel, Gonzales. May they rejoice with the saints forever. Lord, hear us.

May the noble exemplars and teachers of Marial devotion, Brs. Stanislaus, Victor, Bernadine, Placid shine like the stars with their Mother in heaven. Lord, hear us.

May the great commonalty of common monks, the young men who died in their promise, the middle aged, the elderly bent from the classroom, modest, hard-working, anonymous in life, be not forgotten in death. The salt of the earth, may they leave us their savour. Lord, hear us.

May our recently deceased, Brs. Thomas, Louis, Robert find eternal rest and reward. Lord, hear us.

May the parents and families of the Brothers, with the old boys of our schools who passed from this life, find, in eternity peace and joy with the fellowship of the saints and the ones they loved. Lord, hear us.

Father in heaven, when our time comes to die, give us the courage to commend ourselves into your hands, that in the company of Jesus and Mary, we may come to the life which has no end. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
