Gregory Dela Noy

Brother Gregory Dela Noy, FMS, a member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools for 65 years, died on April 3, 2016 at Champagnat Hall in the Bronx. He was 83 years old.  

Brother Gregory was born in NYC. He attended the Marist Brothers Juniorate from 1948- 1950. He became a postulant with the Marist Brothers in 1950 and entered the Marist Brothers Novitiate at Tyngsboro, Massachusetts in 1951.  He professed first vows in 1952.  After completing his religious and academic studies at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York, he began his ministry serving as a teacher at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA. He professed his final vows in 1957. From 1959 – 1965, he worked as a teacher, at Mount St. Michael Academy in Bronx, NY.From 1965-1970, he served as Deputy Principal at Marist High School in Chicago.

Later in his career, he served as principal, Deputy Principal and Guidance Councilor at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also served as a Guidance Councilor at John A Colman High School in Kingston, NY as well as a Professor at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

He earned an MA in Speech from Marquette University in 1966 and an MS in School Administration from Fordham University in 1972

Brother Gregory was the son of to Paul and Mary Dela Noy. He is survived by his cousins as well as by his Marist Brothers of the Province of the United States.
