Paul Clet Sing Wen Chuan

Rev. Brother Provincial of the Marist Brothers and the community of Catholic High School Sibu, Sarawak deeply regret to inform you of the death of Brother Paul Clet Sing Wen Chuan, FMS who died on 19th February, 2016 in the 90th year of his age and the 67th year of his religious profession.

Your pious suffrages are requested for the eternal repose of his soul. Wake will be held at Catholic High School, Sibu Funeral Mass will be held on 23rd February 2016 8:00 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral and burial at Bukit Lima Catholic cemetery.

Bro. Paul Clet Sing Wen Chuan was born in Jixian, Hebei Province on 17/02/ 1926. He was in our Juniorate in Beijing from 1938 to 1946. He became a postulant in 1947. He underwent Novitiate training at Beijing 5th August 1948 to April 1949 then went to Macau to complete his Novitiate training there due to communists took over Beijing. He made his first profession on 05/08/1949. On 5/08/1954 he made his perpetual profession. On 3rd October 1965 he professed the vow of stability. He made his second Novitiate in 1960 at St. Paul Trois Chateaux. He took part in the Year of Spirituality from 1962 to 1963 in Rome. In 2010 he attended 3rd Age renewal course at Manziana.

He studied at Chang-Yi Middle School from 1938-1946. After his Novitiate he took matriculation course at Sri Lanka. From 1963-1967 he studied at University of Fribourg.

He taught in Kim Sen Primary School in 1952 then St. Theresa, Singapore in 1953. From 1954 to 1958 he taught in St. Thomas, Kuantan. 1958-1959 he taught in Sacred Heart School, Balik Pulau. 1960-1962 he taught in Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya. In 1968 he was sent to St. Lucas, Kuching and remained there until 1969. After that he was elected as Provincial of China Province and at the same time as Principal of Catholic High School, Melaka. After that he became Principal of Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya in 1972 at the same time he carried out his duty as Provincial. 1973-1976 he taught in Sam Tet School, Ipoh. He was assigned to Catholic High School, Sibu in 1977 as its Principal. He remained as Principal of Catholic High School, Sibu until his retirement in 1996. He stayed in Sibu community after his retirement until our Lord called him back.

He has served the congregation with various positions such as Superior of community, Principal of Schools and Provincial.

The Lord called him to His side on 19th February 2016 in Sibu.
