William James McAvoy

Br Bill died this afternoon at 3.30pm, Queensland time. He was aged 75 and had been a Brother for 55 years.

Bill was born in Innisfail, Queensland in 1940, to Mary Irene and Francis Joseph (later Sir Joseph) McAvoy. He had four siblings – Francis, Vincent, Mary (deceased) and Michael. He was a student at Innisfail in its early years and finished his schooling at the Juniorate Mittagong. Bill’s ministry was in Primary school education: teaching, being REC and supporting students with needs. Over the last 15 years he has had a strong commitment to the Little King Movement for disabled young people, and devoted much of his time and energy to this special work.
