Launch of the Book of Marist Prayers of Star of the Sea Province
Brothers Josep Maria Soteras and Ben Consigli, General Councillors of the Institute, finished on 8th December their visit to the Star of the Sea Province. On that day, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Marist Community of the Pacific commemorated the second anniversary of the Province, the largest Marist Province, encompassing 11 countries. The occasion takes on even greater meaning with the launch of the Book of Marist Prayers, a resource designed to enrich spiritual practices and celebrate the shared faith of the Marist community. The launch took place at the Randwick community in Sydney.
Here below are the words given by Br. Ben Consigli:
“It is a joy to gather with you today to launch this beautiful new book of Marist prayers, a testament to our shared spirituality and devotion as Marists.
As Marists, prayer is not just something we do—it is who we are. Our Rule of Life and Constitutions remind us that prayer is central to our mission. Article 49 of the Constitutions states: “Prayer nourishes our relationship with God and sustains us in our mission. We contemplate Mary, who pondered all things in her heart, and we take her as our model of prayerful living.” This new book of prayers is a tangible way of deepening that relationship, offering words that can guide our reflection, inspire our action, and unite us more closely to Christ and to one another.
I encourage you all to let this book become part of your daily rhythm—whether in the quiet of personal prayer, in the unity of community gatherings, or in moments when words may fail but the heart seeks to connect. Let it be a companion on our journey as we strive to live in the way of Mary, whose silent pondering and active response continue to guide our Marist vocation.
Thank you once again to all who made this book possible. May it bless and inspire all who use it, and may it be a source of strength for us as we live out our call as Marists.”
