Dear Marist Young Adults,
I hope and pray that things continue to go well for you during this semester. Midterms are over for most of us, and now we look forward to the Thanksgiving break. As students, it seems like we always look forward to the next day off! Now that we are past the midway point, there might be time for a little bit of relief before the next break.
This past week, a Senior Encounter was held in Esopus. Being a part of this event was work, but it felt like a time of rest. I was able to continue my encounter with Christ while helping the next generation of Marist Young Adults along their journey. The retreat was a break from the regular grind of classes and I was reminded of Psalm 62:1 which reads: "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him."
It is important to take a moment in our daily schedules to find rest. Prayer, reflection, and joining together in community are ways to find rest. Finding rest helps us to calm down, and also keeps us mindful of our blessings. I encourage you to read the Marist Young Adult blog and the weekly Marist Monday Challenge as a possible way to take a step back and find rest. Finding service opportunities in your area can also be a way to contribute and "find rest in God". For those in the NY/NJ area, the Marist Brother's Center at Esopus (@MBCEsopus) has service opportunities open to young adults.
God bless you all, and keep living Marist!
