Pray for Nigerias election

The stakes are high, anxiety and tension are highest, and the atmosphere is extremely charged. Analysts have described 28th March, 2015 General Elections in Nigeria as the most closely, tight, and toughest election since the inception of democratic rule.

There is mass exodus of Southerners living in the North of Nigeria, and vice versa. Uncertainty hovers in the air. Nobody knows what the outcome will be. Muslims, Christians, and those whom only God knows their faith are praying. All these tension, acrimony, bitterness and ranchor, all in the name of electing the president of the most populated black nation on earth, and the acclaimed “giant of Africa”.

The two major contenders, the incumbent president, Dr. Good luck Ebele Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his arch rival, retired Major General Mohamadu Buhari of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) are neck to neck. Opinion polls so far conducted are divided. Some say president Good luck will carry the day, others say Buhari will carry the day. As an independent close watcher of events, the pendulum can swing to either direction. Any of them can carry the day.

Interestingly, the major issues shaping this election are religion (Muslim vs. Christian power play in Nigeria), tribe, Boko Haram insurgency, and corruption, among others.

As a faith, praying and believing Community, our task is to pray for our beloved country Nigeria. I call upon all reading this message to pray One Our Father, One Hail Mary, One Glory be, and recite that Powerful prayer of our beloved Founder St. Marcellin, the “Memorare”. This prayer is for peaceful, free, and fair election tomorrow 28th March. God bless Nigeria!

Thank you, God bless.
