Province of Brasil Sul-Amazônia promotes formation for solidarity

More than 80 students from the Social Units of the Brasil Sul-Amazônia province participate in the meetings of the “Coração Solidário Marista” project, which aims to train new leaders among adolescents and young people in the Marist centers, through debates and orientations political-pedagogical in human rights issues. The first training took place on July 21, the second on August 18 (both hybrid) and the third will take place on September 15, in person.

During the first meeting, some young guests shared reflections on different topics, such as the role of young people and the challenges in relation to environmental issues.

In the second meeting: an overview of young people was presented to all participants; and the importance of investing in them was highlighted. Several educators participated in the debate, and together with the young people gave their opinions on the different topics proposed. There were also group reflections and community sharing.

Coração Solidário

In 2014, in response to the call of the XXI General Chapter, the province created a working group with the purpose of promoting the rescue of citizenship, the strengthening of leadership and the insertion of social work, through socio-educational actions, following a proposal based on popular education.

The project responds to the call to young people to be: “experts in the evangelization of children and young people, and the defense of their rights.” This group is now called “Coração Solidário Marista” (Solidarity Marist Heart) and works in 13 socio-educational centers for young people.
