VIII Assembly of the Network of Institutions of Higher Education

The closing session of the Eighth Assembly of the Marist International Network of Higher Education was held at Marcellin Champagnat University in Lima. After outlining future projects, the delegates chose the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in Porto Alegre as the site of the next (ninth) Assembly in 2021.

According to Br. Carlos Alberto Rojas, Coordinator of the Marist Secretariat for Evangelization and Education, the meeting was a success, the participants having come to consensus on common goals. “During the week a solid foundation was laid for the future of a vibrant network for the support and development of young people around the world,” he commented. In addition, a positive approach to the new composition of the executive committee was presented….a step forward in our work together. "We are pleased with the excellent responses of the institutions in attendance. We thank Marcellin Champagnat University, the rector Br. Pablo Gonzalez Franco, and all the members of the provinces who cooperated in making this assembly possible."

In the morning there was a discussion about the future profile of the Executive Secretary of the Network. There were also conversations at the tables regarding practical matters about the work on projects that will be developing over the next two years among the 27 educational entities that make up the group.
