Brother Pedro Marcos begins second term
July 22-25, the Province of Santa MarĂa de los Andes, (Bolivia, Chile, and Peru) held its Provincial Chapter in Villa Marista in Chosica, near Lima, Peru. At this second Chapter since restructuring, Brother Pedro Marcos was re-elected Provincial for another three years.
Brother Pedro began his new term by thanking all the members of the outgoing Council and welcoming the Chapters 32 delegates and 6 lay participants. The first 2 days of the Chapter were devoted to developìng general guidelines for the next three years, refining and ratifying each of the 4 areas that emerged: Marist Apostolic Spirituality; community life; evangelization, emphasizing the most neglected; and strengthening Province unity.
On Sunday the 24th, the Chapter elected the new Provincial Council, choosing 2 Brothers from each of the Provinces 3 countries: Antonio Peralta and Misuaki Hatanaka from Bolivia; Mariano Varona and Jesús Pérez, Chile; and Pablo González and Rafael Kongfook, Peru. These will accompany Brother Pedro until 2008. We wish them great success in animating the Province and Institute.
