Brother Pau Fornells has assumed his responsibilities as Director

Warm greetings to the laypeople and brothers on the part of the new Director of the Congregation?s Bureau for the Laity!

I am Brother Pau Fornells, from Ecuador (Province of Norandina). Since the 1st April I have assumed the direction of this new service of the Institute which is included in the Mission Commission.

During these last few days, I have had the chance to reread several of the latest Marist documents on the laity and this aspect seems to me to be marvellous and renewing, as much for the life of the laity as for the brothers. I give thanks to God for being able to collaborate on this journey.

We are already preparing the first meeting of the Commission entrusted with the development of the document ?The vocation of the lay Marist?. This will take place in Rome from the 17th to the 22nd April.

On the 13th and 14th May, Brother Emili Turú and I will be present at the meeting of fraternities of the Champagnat Movement of the Marist Family in France. This movement has already been in existence for eighteen years! Congratulations! Another meeting of the fraternities of the Champagnat Movement of the Marist Family will follow from the 10th to the 13th August; this will be the first European meeting at Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).

The Bureau for the Laity is also playing an active role in the preparation of the 1st Marist International Mission Assembly, here in the General House as well as participating in some of the Provincial and Continental phases. May everyone take up the work of the Marist mission! From the 27th to the 30th July, the 3rd meeting of this Assembly?s Preparatory Commission will take place here in Rome.
