First religious profession of Br. Gerson Alexander Pooc Asig
Brother Gerson Alexander Pooc Asig, of the Province of Central America, celebrated his first religious profession on July 15 in Guatemala. The Provincial, Brother Hipólito Pérez Gómez, received the vows on behalf of Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General.
Brother Gerson, who has committed himself to being a Marist Brother, expressed his feelings at this fundamental moment in his life in this way: “Being here today makes me feel grateful. The motivations that impel me to choose this lifestyle as a Brother are: the desire to continue to know myself, to give myself in an authentic way to the construction of the Kingdom of God in community“.
Br. Gerson Alexandre Pooc Asig
Brother Gerson was born on July 8, 1998 in San Luis, Guatemala. As part of his religious journey, he participated in the youth ministry groups of his parish. Later, he came into contact with the Marist Brothers through Brother Edgardo LĂłpez, who proposed him to enter the Aspirancy process in July 2017. He began personal accompaniment and had a time of community and apostolic experience in the community of Mejicanos, El Salvador, in 2018.
He entered the Postulancy at San JosĂ© Formation House, Guatemala in January 2019. Gernson then entered the La Valla Interprovincial Novitiate in MedellĂn, Colombia, on February 2, 2021.
During the last two and a half years he has lived a process of deepening, interior growth and consolidation of his vocational option.
