Léonin of Néa Smyrni school named School of the Year

The “Léonin of Néa Smyrni” School, in Nea Smyrni, Greece, of the Province of Hermitage, was proclaimed “School of the Year” for the year 2022-2023 by the “Education Leaders Awards”.

In addition, the “Léonin of Néa Smyrni” school won two gold awards: the first in the “Links with Society” category for its solidarity and volunteer actions; and the second in the “Best learning experience” category for the “Speak Now” project”.

Likewise, the “Léonin de Néa Smyrni” school won the silver prize in the “Buildings and Facilities” category, which was awarded to the newly built “Diamantideio” Kindergarten and Day Care Center, for its highly aesthetic architectural design and modern equipment.

The Léonin educational project is located in Néa Smyrni, on the southern outskirts of Athens, and includes four school levels: kindergarten and nursery, two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. There are 205 teachers in the entire educational complex and 1950 students. Léonin is one of the oldest schools in the country. The elementary school dates back to 1838 and the secondary school to 1889, run by the Marist Brothers since 1909. Léonin’s educational work was moved from downtown Athens to Néa Smyrni in 1962. As part of its school program, the “Léonin of Néa Smyrni” school offers:
