The Feast of Mary. A Family Feast

“We welcome everyone to this family celebration”. These were the words of Sister Georgeanne Donovan, Superior General of the Marist Missionary Sisters (SMSM), host of the meeting, at the opening Mass.

The meeting was on the Sept. 8 to celebrate the Nativity of Our Lady and, in anticipation, the Most Holy Name of Mary (Sept. 12), patronal feast of the Society of Mary.

The four Superiors General and several members of the four Marist branches attended, as well as the superior general and secretary of the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family. These Capuchin Sisters share their general house with the SMSM Sisters. In addition to Brother Emili, four other brothers of our general administration were present. Father Tony Corcoran SM, attorney and Secretary General of the Marist Fathers, presided over the Eucharist. He stressed the vocational availability of Mary, who held her life according to God’s plan. Each one of us, like Mary, also has a place in God’s plan and is called to give a loyal response. After the Mass, we were all invited to a time of fellowship and lunch in a very family atmosphere and with great warmth.
