With a sense of deep sadness the
Province regrets to announce the death of 
Brother Gerard Thomas Mahony

on Tuesday 3rd October 2023 At Auckland, New Zealand. He was 66 years of age, and had been a Marist Brother for 47 years. Brother Gerard Thomas Mahony Born to Sylvester Thomas and Maire Philomena in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, on 16th January 1957.

Gerard’s ministry exemplified Champagnat’s golden rule: “to educate children first you must love them and love them all equally”. This is what Gerard did so well and he touched the lives of countless students and ex-students, accepting, affirming and encouraging them.

Entered the Novitiate: 18th January 1976. Took his First Vows: 1st January 1977. Professed his Final Vows: 1st January 1984
