Champagnat Week Celebrations

Most Member Schools are taking the opportunity of the Feast of St Marcellin this week to celebrate and deepen their Marist heritage. Among them have been Marist College Eastwood and The John Therre School, Lewisham Marist College Eastwood began their Champagnat Week celebrations on Tuesday 31 May with an assembly and mass. Br Darren Burge was the guest for the assembly, sharing stories about the challenges some young people face when he meets them at the John Berne School, Lewisham. The assembly was followed by an inspiring mass where six students from each Year group were presented with a Champagnat Award in recognition of the qualities of the Founder present in them.

The John Berne School also began their Champagnat celebrations a little early with a mass and presentation on Friday 3 June 2011. The mass picked up the theme of Around the Same Table with a special emphasis on building positive and welcoming relationships. The winner of the Champagnat Award was Anthony Esposito who was commended for his family spirit and perseverance. A number of staff were also the proud recipients of awards for 10 years of service to Marist Education.

Many staff are being similarly honoured at Masses and other ceremonies this week.
