Marcellin Trust – Rainbow Project and Marist Nursery and Primary School celebrate the Pongal harvest festival in Tamil Nadu

The Pongal harvest festival in Tamil Nadu was jointly celebrated by the Marcellin Trust – Rainbow Project and Marist Nursery and Primary School. The celebration took place at the Marist Brothers House, St. Marcellin Community Hall in Rettaivaikkal, UKT Malai, Trichy, India.

Special guests at the event included Br. Chinnappan, Mr. Johnson Sahayanathan, and Prof. Dr. Christhuraj from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy. Beneficiaries of the Rainbow Project cooked Pongal as families, expressing gratitude to nature and farmers for their sustenance.

Students from the Social Work Department of Holy Cross College and Bishop Heber College, Trichy, organized various games for parents and children. Winners were awarded, and all participants received consolation prizes.

Marcellin club members led the event and served as Masters of the Ceremony. A bag of rice bearing the symbol of Australian Marist Solidarity, which supports the Rainbow project, along with nutrition supplements and medicine, were distributed.

The Marcellin Club is made up of young individuals who are recipients of the Rainbow Project’s benefits. These young men and women volunteer their time to inspire hope, self-confidence, and dignity in the hearts of the project’s children. They serve as role models, demonstrating how to overcome challenges, dream of a new life, and build resilience for a brighter future. A lunch prepared by Rainbow staff and beneficiaries was served to approximately 200people. Special Thanks to the benefactors and well wishers especially AMS, Mrs. Shanthi Robert, Mrs. Shabeen, Mrs. Amalia, and Mr. Isaac.
