Postulants Mtendere: Lenten Project in session

At the Beginning of the Lenten season, postulants had decided to do a bit of voluntary work. They discovered Mtendere  Mission Hospital run by the Teresian Sisters an ideal place. It was agreed that they would be taking turns each successive week on Wednesday from 2.30 – 400 p.m. to keep the grass as short as possible.  You see them  with slashing knives in their hands,  happily posing for a photo after completing the day’s work. At the background you see dry maize for the hospital and not far from here there is  a mortuary . The hospital does not  have enough staff to keep the grass around low. Each time they leave the place the Sister-in-charge expresses her gratitude for  the greater service our postulants do. The place can easily be turned into a hiding place for snakes and the valley as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Your work must certainly be a pleasing gesture to our  Founder who had a great appreciation for the sick and the pioneer brothers used to help him in bringing different kinds of relief to them. We hope the good work you did will not lack blessings from God who always asks us to be compassionate as He is compassionate himself.  Whatsoever we do to the least of our brothers and sisters, we do it to him.  Work like this can be termed a different way of solidarity. In a different way, you are like telling the  hospital staff as they say in Portuguese, “Estamos juntos!” Keep it up! Our postulants come from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.
