Readers of our Website have available, in « digital book » form, 63 echos which appeared on our page throughout the Year of Spirituality. The fact that they have been put together allows easier consultation. They present us with numerous elements in connection with Water from the Rock. They show us what was done from Rome to animate the Year of Spirituality. We are sure that the Provinces did much more on the subject.
In 63 brief articles we can imagine a great variety of ideas. And, in fact, this variety exists. There are more descriptive articles, featuring an activity which has take place in a Province or Region. Other articles present a deeper reflection on a theme or on a chapter of the document. Certain articles were written by individuals: that often happened after a retreat. But others were written by a group: this was often the case after a seminar or in the houses of formation.
One advantage, among others, of presenting these articles together, is that we have at hand an instrument easy to consult for a reflection, for a rapid introduction to the work, or even for a prayer based on the content of the document.
The provenance of the authors of the different articles equally shows the various possibilities of analysing or reflecting on a particular theme present in the document. One finds articles written by Brothers, others by lay people; some by men, others by women; some by persons already formed, others by aspirants or by Brothers in formation; some by well educated persons, others by more simple people; some by members of the CMMF, others by lay Marists coming from different groups. In addition, the 63 articles represent practically the whole Marist world by regions.
This variety, apart from showing the various possibilities of coming to the text, demonstrates a richness that helps us in becoming more familiar with its content. In reading this rich range of presentations, we find details which help us with reflection and which we would probably have passed over in a purely personal reading. Thus, the reading of this «digital book» can allow us to continue discovering the unsuspected riches to be found in Water from the Rock. They constitute a challenge not only for our spiritual curiousity, but also for the deepening of our spiritual life. Water from the Rock continues to flow well beyond the Year of Spirituality.
When one looks over this collection of little pearls, one has a general view of the great treasure which Water from the Rock, placed at the disposal of the Marist world, and even the Church, by the Congregation, has been, and should continue to be. We can never be sufficiently grateful to all those who, individually or as a group, were able to give a little of their time to dig this deep well from which Water from the Rock rises. We draw therefrom the water which refreshes our soul, nourishes our spirit, purifies our intelligence and enriches our heart. Thanks to everyone.
