Implementing the Rights of the Child in the field of education

It is with great satisfaction that we share with you some good news : EDUCADyS (Education in Rights and Solidarity A.C.), the NGO of the Province of « México Central) and  REDIM (Network for Children’s Rights in Mexico) and the UMA (Marist University of D. F.), organized, from 23 to 25 March, the first of five modules of a specialised course offered to the teachers of the Province and other educators.

This first module, co-ordinated by Doctor Clemencia Correa (Specialist in Human Rights in the Autonomous University of Mexico), focussed on : Analysis of the reality and current situation of Mexico in matters of Human Rights. The subjects studied were : dignity of the person, functions of the State, reasons for the right Law, dimensions of Human Rights, and other elements which helped the participants analyse violence in general, and in Mexico in particular. At the end of the session, the participants proposed the principal axes to form the framework for the other four modules of the Diploma. In two months, we will gather for the second module ; thus, in ten months, the training process will be completed.

Those taking part numbered 22, coming from: Editorial Progreso, Instituto México de Toluca, Escuela Miravalles, Colegio Pedro Martínez Vásquez (Irapuato), Bachillerato Asunción Ixtaltepec extension Quiegolani, Colegio México Bachillerato (Acoxpa), Instituto México Primaria, Escuela Técnica México (Poza Rica). Among them a Brother scholastic, one Brother from the Province of México Occidental and three teachers from schools not belonging to the Province.

So the, while supporting EDUCADyS and reinforcing the purpose of its existence, we have succeeded in taking the first step in line with one of our principal objectives, that is, to provide formation on the topic of the Rights of Children and Youth.

Thanks to the Province for their support with regard to the Diploma and thanks also to the participants for their enthusiasm; we hope all will continue with this formation to the end.
