Meeting of the Regional Council of Europe

The Regional Council of Marist Europe met in ordinary session on September 14-16 in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Province of West Central Europe. Were present the Brothers JosĂ© Abel Muñoz and Jaime Comabella (Province of IbĂ©rica), Aureliano GarcĂ­a and Damiano Forlani (Province of Mediterránea), Robert Thunus (Province of West Central Europe), Gabriel Villa-Real and Xavier GinĂ© (Province of L’Hermitage), Máximo Blanco and Lisardo GarcĂ­a (Province of Compostela). Also participating virtually were Brothers JoĂŁo Carlos do Prado and Ben Consigli, General counselors links for the Region of Europe, who reflected on the reconfiguration.

The main topics discussed at the meeting were:
  • The functioning of the Marist Europe Region through its teams.
  • The Strategic Plan: Projects and initiatives 2023-24.
  • Regional Assembly 2024: orientations and guidelines for the commission.
  • LaValla>200 Communities.
  • Childhood Observatory.
  • Communication framework.

The participants had the opportunity to get to know the Marist projects in Nijmegen and to dialogue with those in charge of them. The Marist centers in the city are:

  • The Westerhelling center which proposes spiritual activities for young adults.
  • The Moria center for the social integration of young people who have been deprived of their liberty at one time or another.

In 2024, between January 15 and 18, the Assembly of Provincial Councils will be held in Carcavelos, Portugal.
