No damage to the Marist schools

Yesterday, 7 November, at 10.35, Guatemala was struck by an earthquake of 7.2 degrees on the Richter scale. The epicentre was at Champerico, in the south of the country, and the seismic wave affected the departments of San Marcos, Retalhuleu and Quetzaltenango. Our Marist school establishments suffered no damage.

The authorities have announced that at San Marcos there were at least 48 dead and other hospitalised. There are still people buried under the rubble. Several seismic waves of lesser intensity have again struck the disaster zone.
