Pilgrimage to l´Hermitage and Marist places

Our pilgrimage began on Sunday 22 June, feast of Corpus Christi. It was to Jesus made love in the Eucharist that we commended ourselves, and we prayed that Mary Our Good Mother and Marcellin would continue to be our companions on the journey.

We began in Rome and, as always, we confirmed that family spirit is one of our principal riches. We are grateful to the brothers for the affection with which they welcomed us. It was the feeling of all that the General House is in reality everyone’s house. We were greatly moved at being able to celebrate the Eucharist next to the canonization painting of Father Champagnat and in the company of Br Emili Turú and Brothers Cesar Rojas and Carlos Saúl Corzo. 

We felt the emotion of having come so far and the joy and commitment of being Colombians. Colombians who are called to be light and salt for the Homeland.

In St Peter’s Square, a few metres away from Pope Francis, we felt part of a Church which, although old-fashioned for some, still gives witness of vitality and the presence of Jesus.

Step 2

June 26, we left the General House and our itinerary took us to Assisi, where we took the opportunity to visit the convent and the beautiful basilica of Saint Francis in which Saint FRANCIS rests. In this way, we took a new step in our preparation for reaching L´hermitage. It is impossible to be in Assisi and not sense the call as our Marcellin sensed it made to us by so many persons wounded in various ways.

On the morning of the 27th, we enjoyed the city of Florence, cradle of the Renaissance, and appreciated its culture in the architecture and sculptural monuments to be found on many of the corners and streets of this precious city. 

On the 28th, we took a new road to Milan, the majestic Duomo or cathedral, which aroused all our admiration, as well as the theatre of la Scala of Milan, where we certainly managed to see a rehearsal for one of the works soon to be performed there.
