WYD – Madrid 2011
From 20 to 22 July 2009, there was a meeting in Roma of an International Team composed of: Br. Antonio Alegre (CME, Madrid); Mr. Fabiano Incerti (Brasil Centro-Sur); Br. Al Rivera (USA); Mrs. Carole Wark (Sydney); Br. Roberto Di Troya (Europa Centro-Oeste); Brs. Juan Miguel Anaya and Emili Turú (Mission Commission of the General Council). The purpose of the meeting was to lay the groundwork for a future meeting of Marist youth in 2011, in the days prior to the WYD in Madrid. Following are details of the main resolutions reached by the group.
Objectives
* A process lived by young Marists from around the world, which will culminate in an international gathering to be held in Spain in 2011, in the days before WYD.
* An opportunity for young people to deepen their personal identity as well as their Christian convictions, echoing the slogan of WYD 2011: ?Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith?.
* A chance for young Marists to strengthen their Marist roots, as we look to celebrate in 2017 the 200th anniversary of our founding.
* A time of expression for our young Marists, to share their dreams, concerns and achievements; a time in which young people evangelize each other.
* An occasion to celebrate the richness of our internationality within the Marist Institute and to ignite a spirit of service in the hearts of young Marists.
Particulars of the meeting
* In Buitrago (74 kilometers from Madrid), in the Center of Studies ?Nuestra Señora del Castillo?.
* From the 10th to the 14th of August 2011 (arrival on August the 10th in the afternoon; it ends with breakfast on August the 15th).
* For a group of between 125 and 200 young people (from 18 to 25 years old), representing all administrative units of the Institute (about 5 per province/district).
* We offer to all administrative units the possibility of integration into a process that can include various stages: personal reflection; sharing in local groups; provincial and/or national meetings, etc. Each administrative unit chooses what is more convenient for its own reality and more adapted to its needs.
* In any case, the young delegates participating in the International Gathering must have followed some kind of preparatory process in their own administrative unit.
