Br Gerry Steele died at 10.40 am this morning at Molloy House, Campbelltown

Gerald Edward Steele was born in Sydney on 7th October 1934. He attended Marist Brothers’ School at Kogarah, entered the Juniorate in 1948, made his first profession in July 1954 and his final profession at Hunters Hill in January 1960. He was nearing his 83rd birthday and was in the 65th year of his Religious Life.

For sixty years, Gerry taught in schools in New South Wales and Queensland and, also, for two years at Marcellin College in New Zealand, when a Kiwi Brother requested a swap in order to come to Australia for a time. During his time in New Zealand, Gerry got hold of a motor bike and toured around the land of the long white cloud. Gerry was principal in three schools.

In December 2014, when Gerry’s health required closer attention, he transferred from Lismore to Campbelltown.
