Former Brothers – Melbourne Marist Province

An item appeared recently in Marist News – Number 131, reporting on a gathering of former Brothers in Guatemala.It has always been an idea of mine that these men have been touched by the Marist and Champagnat charism; I feel that this aspect of spirituality may still sustain them as years roll on.I can recall times that when a Brother left he was regarded as some kind of untouchable and to be avoided. It was as if he had done the wrong thing by leaving.Often enough some of our former Brothers and colleagues have enhanced the work of Catholic Education Administrations and have lead Catholic Schools across this country.There is a group attached to this Melbourne Marist Province who meet every few years for Eucharist, to share and talk over old times. Some Brothers always attend the gathering. They were in formation together at a Juniorate and/or Novitiate at ?Drusilla?
