Marcellin Foundation, General Santos City – Marcellinews

Today, a child was brought to Marcellin by the local social workers. The bright eyed Gerald ( not his real name) manifested a unique intelligence and an active curiosity about the world and people around him. It was both sad and difficult to understand that his childhood is marked by so much rejection; parents were nowhere to be found, relatives did not want anything to do with his wellbeing, care givers found his behaviour undesirable.
Marcellin Foundation was founded to help children like Gerald get over the trauma they have experienced in their childhood, whether such trauma is caused by poverty, complete neglect and abandonment, or situa-tions that have caused them to come in contact with the justice system.
This issue of the Marcellinews will show some of the ef-forts that Marcellin is doing for the children at risk (CAR) and chil-dren in conflict with the law (CICL). The children’s success sto-ries will eventually benefit the future communities where these young men will live.
We are fortunate that our many friends and benefactors have seen our mission to help children and have come to their support. Without them, our efforts would have been more difficult. For this we are grateful.
“Many years from now it will not matter what my worldly possession had been. What will matter is that I was important …in the life of a child.” (Roy B. Zuck).
