The Marist Youth Festival from Australia begins today with the presence of Brother Emili Turú, Superior General. It will finished next Thursday, 15 January, 2015. Its theme is JustLiving.

There are 181 registered participants from around Australia, a mixture of young adults and final year school students. They will live in at St John's College and Sancta Sophia College at Sydney University. The Festival venue is the Australian Technology Park, near Redfern Station.

The Keynote Speakers are Br Emili Turú, Superior General, Sr Brigid Arthur CSB, Laura John, Fr Peter Day. There are many workshops on offer, mainly in the afternoons.

Bishop Peter Ingham will celebrate the Festival Mass on Wednesday evening.

On the Tuesday night there is a Taizé prayer and on the Wednesday night, Fr Rob Galea and team will lead a special moment of Praise and Worship.

On the Thursday morning, Br Emili and Kate Fogarty will run a creative wrap‐up session, followed by the commissioning.

This is the first major event of this kind as the Province of Australia, following in the tradition of the Melbourne Festivals of years back and the Marist International Festival conducted before the World Youth Day in Sydney.
