Appointments of the General Government of the Institute

Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General, has presented a summary of the appointments made by the General Council in recent months. In his letter of 10 December, addressed to the Superiors of Administrative Units, he listed the appointments of Provincials, members of the General Administration and participants in International Mission projects. We reproduce this list below.

Provincials:

  • Br. Venceslas Baindekeli Beimoyato (Bro. Babey), as Provincial of East Central Africa (PACE) for a first three-year term, starting on 14 December 2021. We thank Br ThĂ©oneste Kalisa Ruhando for his six years of service as Provincial.
  • Br. JosĂ© de Assis Elias de Brito, as Provincial of Brasil Centro Norte, for a first three-year term, starting on 17 December 2021. We thank Br Ataide JosĂ© de Lima for his six years of service as Provincial.
  • Br. RaĂşl JosĂ© Schönfeld Hergenreder, as Provincial of Cruz del Sur, for a second three-year term of office, starting on 07 December 2021. His mandate is extended for two months, given that the Provincial Chapter has been postponed and will be held on 20 December 2021.
  • Br. JosĂ© Abel Muñoz GutiĂ©rrez as Provincial of IbĂ©rica, for a first three-year term, starting on 26 December 2021. We thank Br. MoisĂ©s Alonso PĂ©rez for his six years of service as Provincial.
  • Br. Máximo Blanco Morán as Provincial of Compostela, for a first three-year term, starting on 27 December 2021. We thank Br. Tomás Briongos Rica for his six years of service as Provincial.

General Administration:

  • Br. Jorge Gaio (Brasil Centro-Sul) as General Bursar, for a first three-year term, beginning on 1 January 2022. Our thanks to Br Libardo GarzĂłn (Norandina) for his seven years of service as General Bursar and member of the community of the General Council.
  • Br. Patrick McNamara (United States), as Leader of the community of the General Administration, for a first three-year term, starting on 7 January 2022. We thank Br. Antonio Sancamillo (Mediterránea) for his six years as Superior of the community of the General Administration.
  • Ongoing Formation Team: Brs. Xavier BarcelĂł Maset (Hermitage), Michael Sexton (Australia), for three years starting from 1 January 2022, and Br. Antonio Peralta Porcel (Sta. Maria de los Andes), who will continue until 31 August 2022. They will be part of the community of the General Administration in Rome.
  • We thank Brothers TeĂłfilo Minga (Compostela), five and a half years in Manziana, Joaquim Sperandio (Brasil Centro-Sul), one year in El Escorial and three years in Manziana, Joseph Walton (Southern Africa), three years in Manziana, for their service in the various ongoing formation programs.
  • Extended Secretariat of the Laity: Ms. Alida Bodomanitra (Madagascar) and Mr. Nathan Ahearne (Australia), as members of the Extended Secretariat of the Laity team for three years, starting on 1 November 2021. We thank Mrs Carole Wark (Australia) for her three years of service as part of the Extended Secretariat of the Laity.
  • Br. Ataide JosĂ© de Lima (Brasil Centro Norte), as a member of the Commission for the revision of the Formation Guide, for 3 years, starting on 1 September 2021. We thank Br Rubens Falqueto (Brasil Centro-Norte) for his participation in this commission for one year.
  • Br. Miguel Fernandes Ribeiro (Brasil Centro-Sul), as a member of the International Mission Commission, for 3 years, starting on 1 December 2021.
  • Ms. Dorotea Cinanni (Italia), as Director of the General House Archives Department, effective 1 November 2021. We thank Br Colin Chalmers (West Central Europe) for his 8 years of service as Director of the General House Archives.
  • Ms. Benedetta Di Stefano, as FMSI project manager, for one year, starting on 2 November 2021.
  • The coordination of the formation programmes and the accompaniment of the Lavalla200 communities will be taken over by the director of CMI, Br ValdĂ­cer Fachi, together with other collaborators, from 1 December 2021. We thank Br Jeffrey Crowe (Australia) for his six years of service as director of the formation programme and accompaniment of these international communities.

International Mission Projects:

  • Ms. Regina Biasibetti (Brasil Sul-Amazonia), extension of her membership of the Lavalla200> community of Syracuse until July 2022.
  • Br. Anthony Clark (Australia), extension of his membership of the Lavalla200> community in Atlantis until December 2022.
  • Marist District of Asia: The following Brothers start or renew their stay in the Marist District of Asia: Br Joseph Walton (Southern Africa) for three years, Br Anselmo Kim (East Asia) for a further three years, Br Pierre Joseph (Madagascar) for a further three years.
