Br Ernesto Sánchez and Luis Carlos Gutiérrez

Today, Oct. 3, is the first-year anniversary since Brother Ernesto Sánchez was elected as the Institute’s superior general and Brother Luis Carlos Gutiérrez as vicar general.

The election was made during the Institute’s XXII General Chapter which took place in Rionegro, Colombia, from Sept. 8 – Oct. 20.

In this past year, Br Ernesto and Luis Carlos have been leading the Institute – along with the General Council – according to the calls of the General Chapter .

The Institute is grateful for their hard work and leadership, and all Marist brothers and laity across the world hope to continue to show their support and unity through co-responsibility and prayer.

Br Ernesto’s election anniversary coincides with the start of the Synod of Bishops at the Vatican, themed ‘Young People, Faith, and Vocational Discernment’, in which he is participating as one of the representatives of the religious.
