Up to the end of January, 17 students from the University of Harvard are taking part in an experience of language, social and cultural immersion in the PUCRS, Porto Alegre. In the mornings, the young people follow courses in the Portuguese language and the culture of Brasil. In the afternoons, the group act as volunteers in the Marist solidarity projects.

Cristina Perna, one of the co-ordinators, explains that the project is included among the initiatives of academic mobility and of  internationalisation of PUCRS and has the exchange experience as a strong point.

David Coletti, 19, a psychology student of Harvard, has been charmed : « The  persons here are happy and welcoming. The culture is impressive and I think it is important to learn a little of the tradition ».

The exchange is in its second year.
