Third edition of the program “A Servant, Prophetic and Qualified Leadership” at PUCRS

The Marist Institute, in collaboration with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), is holding a new edition of the training program “Marist Leaders – Servant, Prophetic and Qualified Leadership” for Portuguese and Spanish-speaking leaders. The first edition was held in 2022. The following year, the same program was held for English and French-speaking audiences, with the sponsorship of Notre Dame de Marbel University. The provinces in Africa are currently implementing the same program.

The second edition of the program at PUCRS began on March 18 with an introductory session. Classes will be held online until the end of September, when the group will meet in Porto Alegre for the face-to-face session, which will end on October 11.

The new edition of the Program brings together 70 brothers and lay Marists from 19 countries, 4 from Europe and the rest from America.

The Marist Leadership Training Program will be based on the contents of the book Marist Voices – Essays on Servant and Prophetic Leadership and will contain the following modules:

  1. Servant Leadership: Introduction, concept and characteristics
  2. Service leadership, innovation and change processes.
  3. Servant leadership and community building (communications and interpersonal relations).
  4. Service leadership and project development (processes and tools).
  5. Leadership, new normality and networking.
  6. Servant leadership, “pre-vision” and strategic planning.
  7. Leadership and co-responsibility (evaluation based on indicators).
  8. Servant leadership, ethical and moral foundations (ethical responsibility)
  9. Service leadership and sustainability.
  10. Servant leadership: education, mission and pastoral care.
  11. Servant leadership, spirituality and charismatic identity.

The course has two main objectives:

  • Encourage, through training and accompaniment (including professional), a mentality of solidarity that emphasizes co-responsibility, transparency, efficient and effective management, and sustainability.
  • Promote open and empowered servant leadership to address the emerging realities of our Institute and the world.
